It’s that time of year again, Creative Eaters…APPLE SEASON! I used to love caramel apples as a kid, but thanks to extensive dental work, I can’t enjoy them anymore — this caramel dip is a way that I can relive that childhood memory without risking a very expensive trip to the dentist. As an added bonus, it’s easier and far less time-consuming to make caramel dip than caramel apples
All you need is:
Caramels
Half&Half or light cream
Fresh apples, cored and sliced
Instructions:
1. Unwrap caramels and place in a microwave-safe bowl (not plastic).
2. Pour cream or half&half over the caramels until they’re just about covered.
3. Microwave at 30- to 45-second intervals, stirring each time, until the mixture is smooth and creamy; if necessary, add small amounts of additional cream or half&half until mixture reaches desired consistency.
4. Dip apple slices and enjoy!
Cover any unused dip and store in the refrigerator. This dip will probably harden in the refrigerator; just microwave for a few seconds and stir before serving leftovers.
